from Masonry, Brickwork and concrete
These graffiti offenders generally targeting fences, walls, staircases, street furniture, playground equipment and in some cases cars |
We all know that graffiti is the scourge of our communities and with estimated costs in the UK of over £1 billion per year to clean up it is certainly a major problem for our councils to address. Graffiti is classed as a ‘Signal Crime’, in that it can affect an individuals assessment of their own security and well being, leading to the decline of an area and a lack of respect for the place in which people live, work and play. Tagging (the term used to describe the defacing of walls with scruffy signatures) is an eyesore. These graffiti tags can be any size shape or colour with offenders generally targeting fences, walls, staircases, street furniture, playground equipment and in some cases cars.
How do I tackle graffiti from Masonry & Brickwork, if I have been a victim ?
What is needed to tackle each of these scenarios could be completely different depending on the surface, the paint used and how long the graffiti has been on the actual surface itself. Porous surfaces such as brickwork and masonry can be very challenging as the paints and the pigments within the paints will penetrate the surface more easily. The quickest and easiest way to remove graffiti is a combination of a user friendly graffiti removing gel (which will stick to the wall while it does its work) and a high power pressure washer to remove it.
Graffiti Remover |
Recent legislation has restricted the use of many of the solvents previously used in graffiti removal or imposed strict labelling requirements and safety precautions.
DETAG-3
uses modern solvent technology to give excellent performance on a wide range of
surfaces combined with a low risk to the user and the environment. It contains
no chlorinated solvents, ketones, lactates, NMP or aromatic hydrocarbons but is
based on modern alternatives with a low vapour risk, low odour and low
environmental impact. DETAG-3 does not require any hazard labelling, special
protective equipment or procedures other than common sense precautions. DETAG-3
is available in both liquid and gel forms, it rinses with water and is fully
biodegradable.
DETAG-3 Graffiti Remover will remove graffiti such as spray paint, household paint, marker pen or crayon from hard surfaces both indoors and outdoors including masonry and concrete. DETAG-3 Liquid graffiti remover performs well as a spray and wipe application on non- porous surfaces. For porous surfaces such as brickwork and masonry, or more difficult jobs, use the gel and increase contact time. DETAG-3 will, in many cases, act more thoroughly than traditional products.
Apply with a brush or spray over the whole area of the stain. Allow 10-15 minutes to act. Use a stiff brush to agitate stubborn graffiti and hose or rinse off with water, preferably using a high pressure cleaner where possible.
Graffiti which has been left for long periods on a porous outdoor surface such as concrete or brickwork may require longer contact times or more than one application. On masonry, it is safe to use long contact times (more than 1 hour) if necessary.

ReplyDeleteI don't why somebody tries to make these artworks on someone's property. I called graffiti removal company a month before and paid some bucks to undo the graffiti that wasn't even done by me.
